Photo Challenge Day # 274

Day # 274

Today I had fun at mom's place. We dug out her christmas decorations so she could make her apartment more festive for the upcoming holidays. She has over 60 yrs. of Christmas decorations, and the story behind each one. I think that is why I love the tradition of putting up the Christmas tree, the memories and the story behind the ornaments.

This star is one of many in my mother's collection. I have a photograph of my grandmother by her Christmas Tree, she had oodles of stars on her tree. My dad taught my mom, and they taught us Hennig kids, how to make the German Christmas star.  I too have lots of stars on my tree and  over the years I have taught my children how to make these treasures. My thought is that one day my grand children will know how to make these stars and hang them on their Christmas Tree.

Day # 274 "Snowman"

I am not sure about the story behind this  little snow man. I remember putting him on the tree when I was a little girl. I was very pleased to see him once again.
I always loved helping to decorate the tree, and after we were done mom and  dad would put on Christmas music then the lights in the house would be turned off. We would lay on our backs as close to the tree as possible and look up at the ceiling. It was pure magic.
Today at mom's apartment, I felt like a little girl…remembering…

See you tomorrow with Day # 275!
