Photo Challenge Day # 207

Day # 207

He who works with his hands
is a labourer,
He who works with his hands
and his heart is a craftsman,
He who works with his
hands, his head and his heart
is an artist.
---- St. Francis of Assisi

The photo Challenge for today, is "hands" the set of hands available are my own.
My hands may not paint great works of art like my cousin Sheila, but, I do like to use my hands in other creative ways.
My hands have done many things, from writing, cooking, cleaning some really disgusting stuff, digging in the dirt, planting, harvesting & picking flowers! My hands have touch the feathers on a tiny bird, holding a new borns hands, the hands of my loved ones, tears, snow flakes.
My friends laugh because I use my hands to express my feelings.
I also blame my hands for hitting the wrong key on my computer keyboard at times that had cause real problems.
I think that I use my hands, head and heart when I create something. Can you call me an artist ?… not sure if I am one yet.
Though, I am very pleased when something I had created with my hands turns out. I do hope I had expressed a feeling, a conversation, a reaction!

Day # 206

In the spring I am always please and mildly surprised when I see new growth, and I get to see what had survived the winter.
Today, is a nice warm fall day, while doing a garden clean up, I see new life, a new flower bud almost ready to open. I hope we have a few more warm days so I can see it open to its glory.

Day # 206 "Last blossoms"

You know I will take photos once these buds have completely opened…stay tuned !!

Photo Challenge Day # 205

Day # 205

Candles, one of the earliest forms of portable light. The candle symbolizes light in the darkness of life, esp. the individual life.
Candles have served humankind throughout the centuries.  Centuries ago candles provided light and the ability for writers and painters to create wonderful works of art.   Candles are used for many religious purposes and ceremonies and celebrations. Most popular events the candles are used are in Weddings, Birthdays, Christmas, and Hanukkah just to name a few.
At home we also use candles for Aromatherapy, decorating your home, setting a romantic mood.

Day # 205 "In memory for Toni"

(I had fun trying to put my camera on a tripod, time the camera, and blow out the candle at the same time…. )

Sometimes candles are used for remembrance of someone we love who had passed away.

Toni
And it seems to me,
You lived your life like
a candle in the Wind…. Elton John

So often times it happens
that we live our lives in
chains,
and we never ever knew
we have the key--Eagels

I will break these chains that bind me,
happiness will find me.
Leave the past behind me,
today my life begins.
A whole new world is waiting,
its mine for the taking.
I know I can make it.

Birthday Dinners are special!  When we were young sometimes your mom asked you, "What do you want for your Birthday Dinner and what kind of Birthday cake ?"

What is my favourite birthday meal? Oh that is so tough for me, I love to eat, I love to cook!
So, maybe Chinese food, steak with all the fixings, lasagna, seafood…. yes the list goes on!
For my cake…maybe Chocolate cake…or Cheese cake… or lemon …hmmm !
But, it doesn't really matter for me…. as long as I get to share the meal with people I love the most!

Day # 202 " Dinner Ingredients"

Dinner and Birthday Cake ingredients were piled ready to start.  At the time of this posting, the dessert/birthday cake is done, and dinner is prepped, in the oven and ready for the stove.
It smells wonderful!

What is your favourite Birthday Dinner & Birthday Cake?

Day # 201

I had received this rhinestone necklace as a child. I think it was my first piece of jewellery.  Worn only for church, sunday school, christmas and birthdays.
I cherished this necklace in my jewellery box for years. As a  pre-teen I imagined that this necklace would of been made of gold and very rare  precious gems.
Now I see it as a unique one of a kind jewellery that I had as a child and one day will be passed on.

Day # 201 "Shiny and Sparkly"

What is your favourite shiny and sparkling item in your possession?

Photo Challenge Day # 199

Day # 199

The last day of summer. The weather has been getting cooler, the shorts, beach toys, are put away and the sweaters are out of the closet. The trees are changing from shades of green to yellow, orange, red and brown.
One of the photos I needed to take for my photo challenge, and "The Taste of Summer" was Ice Cream. So, I saved that  photo for today, the last day of summer.
Ice cream is a wonderful dessert served any time of day, any time of year not just summer! A little bit of a celebration for your taste buds.

Day # 199 "Death by Chocolate"

The best time for ice cream is ALWAYS!

Chocolate comes from cocoa, which is a tree, that makes it a plant, so, chocolate is a salad. So what is chocolate ice cream? Ha ha ha !

Chocolate Ice cream to a woman is like duct tape to a man.
It fixes everything!

What is your favourite flavour of ice cream?

Day # 197

I have lived here in Prince George for 41 years, and I must say that today was my first walk at Moores Meadow. I am not sure why I had not been there before?  Esp. since it is not far from where I live!
We are very lucky to live in such a beautiful area. For most of us, walking in nature, hearing the squirrels, birds is a luxury, that we should not take for granted. It is a gift.  Seeing prints and other leavings from other wild animals, in the city is wonderful.

Photo Challenge Day # 195

Day # 195

One of my pastimes is reading. I have my own small library, and stacks of books on my night stand that I am getting ready to read.  When I come to your house and see books stacked on a table I love to flip through them to see what you are reading.  I do have a hard time walking past new and used book stores as well as libraries.  I could spend hours browsing, looking, reading book covers before a book comes home with me.
My Photo Challenge for today was 'Favourite Books'.

Day # 195 "Favourite Books"

My favourite books are the ones I had created.  The were gifts for my children and family. So far I had made 9 books;

The Pedde Fleet Series Andrew Pedde,  Nathan Pedde, Caitlin Pedde, Kimberly Pedde, Tracey Pedde.
Wedding Album for Nathan & Grace Pedde;  Home The Place Your Story Begins;  Arno Horst Hennig, The Journey;  Ashton-Summer 2013.
My tenth book is a work in progress, I am combining all the pictures from this photo challenge into a photo coffee table book.

What is your Favourite Book?

Photo Challenge Day #194

Day # 194

I have lived here on this street for about 26 years. On this street I have seen a lot of families  move onto the street, the kids grow up, and then they move on.
I think it was a great place for my kids to grow up. They had friends on the street, friends near by, the schools were in walking distance so they should not of been late for classes.
While focusing the camera, I thought about the times I waited at the front door for the kids to come home from school. They played street hockey, baseball, hop scotch, learning how to ride a bike, tag, the kids taking turns to push Tracey's stroller up & down the street, and oh yes the water fights, even the grown ups got involved. (Kathy, Rick and myself)
Sliding down the drive way in the winter, trick or treating and I would play "Thriller and other Hallowe'en music!
In the evening sitting across the street on a neighbours front steps drinking peach coolers while the kids played hide n go seek.

Day # 194 "View from the Front Door"

I think about my childhood home and the neighbourhood I had lived, the friends, the fun, the trouble we got into and the great memories, now I realized I had given my children the same thing.

Day # 193

I left home in a heavy fog, and by the time I was done my errands, the fog had lifted, the sun was warming things up. I found my way down to Cottonwood Island Park, and thought that it was perfect time to go for a walk. I am glad that I always take a camera along, even if it is my small camera "Sweet Pea".
At the park, I had noticed there were other photographers, either taking photos of their family or of the CN Rail Bridge.
Sometimes you have to get off the path, and walk along the river.

Day  #193 "Up the River"
The canoe was tied to the tree with no paddles. Not really sure what the story is with the canoe. I am hoping the owners were near by. The day would of been perfect to go paddling on the river.

Day # 190

This morning was the perfect time to go explore and wander down the Nechako River.
We were not the only ones going out for a walk, earlier, there was deer, bears. We found their foot prints.  We also found foot prints from the 2 legged variety and also the remains from serval of their parties.  I think we collected approx. 1.00 worth of bottles and cans during our adventure today.

Day # 190 "Inukshuk or Pile of Stones"

It was peaceful walking along the river tossing in a few stones to see what kind of splash we could make.
I hope your sunday was sunny, peaceful, relaxing before you tackled the "To Do List"

For my friend Wendy and Brother Ernie

Yesterday was Zucchini Baking Day. Since Chocolate is one of my favourite flavours, I decided to go with my hearts desire, Chocolate!
Both Ernie and Wendy had suggested Chocolate Zucchini Cake, and that was the first item into the oven, followed by Chocolate Zucchini Muffins, and a couple of Chocolate Zucchini Loaves.
We had to cut into the cake…with ice cream, before lunch time! And, maybe, because I can, I will have a delicious slice of Chocolate Zucchini Cake with Ice Cream for dinner, don't worry, I am getting at least one serving  of veggies !

Day # 189 "Chocolate Zucchini Baking"

This morning a trip to Wilson Park.
To enjoy, explore the park in the fog
No one else is around, I am alone in my
own thoughts
Birds are flying tree to tree
chirping
I can hear the river
the traffic in the distance
but it is very foggy
I breath in the fresh air.
