One of my photo challenges was 'music'! How do you take a photo of 'music'? Since I will be celebrating a milestone birthday soon, I had an inspiration!
I grew with this wonderful old radio in our living room as our source of music, news and radio stories. Our parents first automobile did not have a radio…. can you imagine those long road trips??
I still have my very first long playing record (33 1/3) filled with childhood songs and nursery rhymes. The 45's came out in the late 40's, they were a great way to get that one song that you just love without the cost of buying the whole album. My favourite 45 was the sound effects from the "Haunted Mansion" at Disney Land!
In the mid 60's cassette tapes and 8 track tapes come out, the 8 tracks only lasted about 10 years the cassettes lasted longer. Cassettes were a great way to take your music along with you and the great thing was you could get blank cassette tapes and record your own music!
My children grew up with the CD's…they came out in the early 80's. I am pleased that not only is the current music available, but even the music I grew up with is now on CD's. Slowly the CD's will become the thing of the past.
Now, we have computers, and small devices, cell phones where you can download music to enjoy where ever you happen to be.
I even have an MP3 player where you download music from your computer onto a memory card ! (some kids laugh cause an MP3 player is 'old fashion")
Today we have several radio stations, music on our television, music in the malls and stores, on our cell phones and still in our cars. Music is everywhere!
| Day # 357 "Music from Julie's last 60 years! |
I hope that the music you are playing today is making you smile!
See you tomorrow with Day # 358!
