It was a nice sunday afternoon visit. A brother and sister, an uncle and nephew & niece, a grand nephew, grand niece and grand uncle. Tasty treats, delicious baking, a meal, wine and conversations with laughter.

Today is Caitlin's and Kimberly's Birthday. They are twins and share a birthday, they are unique, wonderful young ladies. 
 As with all of my children, I see a little of me, a little bit of their father, a touch of grandparents, and whispers of their Aunts & uncles. It maybe the way they walk, smile, their eyes, a mannerism. Which creates these wonderful human beings, called My Children!

Today is Caitlin's and Kimberly's birthday, I send them my love, my best wishes. We may not all celebrate birthdays together, but, we will celebrate!

Today was another sunny frosty chilly cold day. I took a moment, went outside and shivered while trying to get close up shots of frost on my apple trees. 
Each piece of frost is a different shape, just like snow flakes.

I was standing in the middle of my back yard, the sun shining on my shoulders. I could see   the foothills. The trees in the hills were covered in frost. It looked magical from a fairy tale or a snow globe. Winter will soon be upon us and the branches on these trees will be covered in snow. A different photograph to take.

Today was a frosty morning. With the sun shining, the frost sparkled on the left overs in the garden.

This evening we got together to celebrate Kimberly's 28th birthday. Her birthday is on the 28th, which she shares with her twin sister Caitlin.

I love the older heritage

buildings in New Westminster, BC. 

This one is a Hotel. I wonder about its age, who stayed here, what is their story. What does it look like inside, what about the people who worked there, about the people in the area. I stand and look at this building and I wonder….

Looking at the windows, I wonder who was looking out at the windows. Oh if the windows and walls could tell a story. I would listen. 

I love these old buildings, they have style and character that the new buildings just don't have. 
Treasure the stories, the past, the memories. Don't get rid of something just because its old.

Granville Island, what can I say about it. I enjoy my visits there each time we go. From the coffee, to the pastries, and the free samples of tasty treats.  I can't  get enough of the food items such as: sea food, breads, meats, sausages, fruits, veggies, cheese, fudge, nuts, chocolate, flowers, chocolate, paintings, jewellery, chocolate and artists of every type of media galore! 
I could spend hours there and ending up with an empty bank account plus maxed out credit cards. What held me back (which was a good thing! ) Is I flew down to Vancouver, now if I drove hmmmm!

After finishing up at my appointment, Caitlin and I we walked to "Beaucoup Bakery & Cafe".  Caitlin's place of work. It was a wonderful sunny walk. It really doesn't seem like November down here at the coast.

Good Morning! 

What do you do when you are in someone else's home, and you cannot sleep. I guess reading, writing is an option, or watching another movie. 
But, when you have these very large windows, and a city scene right there, why not take advantage! So, I laid in bed watching  the traffic, the train go by. Sometimes you can see a tiny light in the dark sky, an airplane heading to its destination. 
Plus, while the house was sleeping I played with my camera.

I had left Prince George BC at a -7C it is freezing cold and windy, to a very rainy wet New Westminster. I am not on a holiday, but I promised to take some photos while I am here.

My Christmas Cactus has its first blossom. I am excited, because I had this plant for a few years without any blossoms. 
It seems lately that Kissa has decided to appear in my photos, wanting to see what I was doing!

Tonight I went to a Symphony. Yes, Prince George has a Symphony Orchestra! This is my second time attending, and tonight I really enjoyed the music. Mostly because most of the pieces played tonight I have heard it before.
The first selection was "Night on Bald Mountain" (are, Rimsky-Korsakov) a selection of this piece was played in the Disney Movie 'Fantasia'. Another familiar piece was Morgenstemming (Morning Mood).

The Symphony is playing several times in 2016, I am looking forward in attending another performance. We should be proud of the talent we have in our fair city!

I had another request for my Cinnamon Buns, I get a lot of requests for those sticky, delicious with or without coffee buns!!  They are a family favourite when I go out to see my children, I either take a batch of buns along with me, or end up baking a batch. They never last very long, and when I get the chance to freeze them, I hide them in the deep freeze. OOOPs… hmmm (note to self, change the lock).

It is a recipe that has been passed down from my mom, to me to my children. They are all terrific bakers….but …they always request these buns from their mom!

Tucked away in my room I found  one of my dolls. My oldest possession. She has no name, just my baby doll. My mother made the clothes for her as well as my other dolls. I do remember their names. They were named ; Ernie, he was a baby doll; Catherine, you could help her walk; Mamma, was from Germany, and she would cry "mama"; then there was Lady, she was a 14" barbie type doll.

This doll is laying on a baby sweater that mom had made for me, when I was born. The coverlet is from one of my twin brothers, Roland and Gerald. I used the coverlet  to wrap up my baby dolls. 
I didn't find expensive treasures…but treasured memories….

Empty nest…I think most of us have experienced the feeling. It is wonderful when you children spread there wings and fly! Yes, sometimes they come back to the nest for a short while. But, you know when they have left home, they really have left home. How do I feel? A felt a little sadden, mostly because childhood is over, adulthood begins. Glad for them because they get to create their own little nest.

It is always easier and a lot more fun doing that last bit of fall yard work with family and friends. You really don't need much, other than a pick up truck and or trailer, shovels, rakes, brooms, boxes, garbage cans, coffee, water, band aides and a good sense of humour! 
As my grandson would say…"It didn't take much time at all, we are now ready for Winter"!
