How does your garden grow

I love using all sorts of items as planters for my yard and  to decorate my deck. I have a wagon from my "Lewiscraft" days, that is filled with all sorts of white and purple shaded petunias and other flowers. Brings back wonderful fun memories! 

I do have a thing with boots and shoes, filling them with dirt, and planting petunias. They are easy to grow, and I love the way they drape.

I was watering the flower beds today, and I had noticed some new flowers!

 Last year I had planted Hollyhocks, and this year I have lots of seedlings that are now flowering. I feel like I received a free gift from Mother Nature!

How does your garden grow 

This is the last original plant in my front flower beds. It was here in abundance when we moved into the house over 26 years ago. Each year she grows, and blooms! I just love the colour! I must  have taken hundreds of pictures of this one plant!

These 4 wedding rings, represent  four generations of incredible women.  A Great-Grandmother, Grandmother, Mother and Daughter.
 I could talk about love, the wedding, relationships, marriage.
 Instead, I wonder about the women, who wore these rings. The hands they held, the brows they stroked, the tears they wiped, all the meals they prepared, the waves, the hugs. 
What about the 4 men who gave the rings? What did they see in these four beautiful women? What were these men thinking when they held the hands that wore these rings?

 There is something said about looking at life through a wine glass.
Sometimes life is clear as a bell, and other days a wee bit blurry. When you are having one of those days, when your world is upside down, take a look through your glass of white wine. Maybe then your world be the right way up.

How does your garden grow

During the summer, it is such a thrill for me to go into my garden, pick a head of lettuce, onions, some herbs. 

But, one of my many favourites is peas, whether you have to shell them, or you grew sugar peas. They taste wonderful fresh out of the garden, or quickly cooked with butter, parsley or dill.

These flower seeds were scattered in my garden when my dad passed away. Not much came up with the amount of seeds I scattered, and surprisingly last year this plant grew!

Colours of Summer

Orange colours in the sunrise, popsicle's, creamsicles, baby finger carrots from the garden. Cheddar cheese on BBQ Hamburgers. Orange life preservers in the boat. To end the day orange in the sunset.

Try explaining to a 5 yr. old the concept and tradition of a wedding, the  anniversary. Donnie and Audrey understand the idea of  celebrating with food, cake, music, friends, family and presents. 
Today, my Son Nathan and his lovely wife Grace celebrate their 7th wedding anniversary. They got dressed up and went for dinner, I babysat the grandkids. 
So, while eating dinner, we (the grand kids and I ) discussed their parents wedding celebration and the reason for going out for dinner. 
Donnie wanted to give his parents a gift, and sometimes we don't always need to give a purchased, wrapped gift, but, a gift from the heart.

They met here for the first time at her daughters house, at his grandmothers house. There was a dinner, family around for their first meeting. Her smile was huge and gorgeous! His gave her one of his smiles, that you know the one he gives, that says you are number one in his book! You know that if he could he would and maybe he already did, wrap you around his baby finger and knows he too will get spoiled by you!

When I think of summer, I think of berries. There are all sorts of berries grown in BC! I remember helping our mother pick raspberries, my poor arms would be scratched. But, oh the taste! We did complain about picking, but we enjoyed the eating, whether they were fresh, or made into a dessert, or jams! Home made raspberry jam on a piece of home made bread, in the middle of winter. When you close your eyes you can taste summer!

The photo challenge for today is," the view" from my bedroom window. Well, the view from my bedroom is my back yard, and secondly, I didn't want to remove my screen. (I guess I could of used the screen as a filter…something I can play with later?)

I hope you won't mind another Hummingbird photograph? They are so interesting to watch. I can sit outside and observe these wonderful birds. They also challenge my quick draw skills with getting the camera up, focused and shooting a picture! 

Since we moved the feeders near the hanging baskets, I see more birds each day. They are also getting brave and zip past me to check out the other plants on the deck.

Nathan Arno Pedde was born today 30 yrs. ago. I now have 2 boys, the start of the Pedde Fleet. 
Nathan never stopped moving, from the time he walked at 7 1/2 months ( because he had to keep up with his older brother!)…even now I think he gets restless feet. 
He was a typical boy, from visits to ER for stitches, to volunteering his mom as an extra in a film in Drama class, proof reading his novel (like all novelist a work in progress)… asking me to bake his wedding cake… helping him paint his first house. 
Thirty years ago I wasn't thinking that I would be holding his 2 kids on my knees, and colouring together.

I look at this photograph and I see youth, innocence, and so many memories to come! What a time you will have with your Children and Grace, Nathan! Enjoy each day! I have so many Nathan stories and memories to share with your children!

Colours of Summer 

Fluffy clouds, vanilla ice cream, white cap waves, white t-shirts against tanned skin, popped corn at the drive-in, marshmallows before roasting, daisies and clover.

 As a child I remember picking the tiny clover petals and sucking out the nectar. I have a clover patch on my own lawn, and I like watching the bees fly clover to clover collecting the nectar. Go quickly my little friends before the lawn mower comes out!

Today on Canada's 148th Birthday, I celebrated it quietly at home by enjoying my yard and doing a little sorting of the past to prepare for the future…. which requires a trip to recycling! 

I see by the photo of Mr. PG, he was quietly celebrating Canada's birthday! He is holding the 25th anniversary UNBC Flag instead of a  Canadian Flag.
